Description
This delicious steak recipe features perfectly cooked steak smothered in a rich and creamy onion sauce, perfect for any dinner occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks, about 1 inch thick
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Cook for 3-4 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Let them simmer in the sauce for an additional minute to heat through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can marinate the steaks for a few hours before cooking.
- Feel free to add mushrooms to the sauce for an added depth of flavor.
- Serve this dish with mashed potatoes, rice, or a side salad for a complete meal.
