This festive trifle is layered with fresh berries, whipped cream, and cake, making it the perfect patriotic dessert for your 4th of July celebration.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 pound blueberries
  • 1 pound raspberries
  • 1 store-bought or homemade pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  2. In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.
  3. Add a layer of half of the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
  4. Spread half of the whipped cream over the berries.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining pound cake, berries, and whipped cream.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • You can substitute the pound cake with angel food cake for a lighter option.
  • Feel free to use any combination of red, white, and blue berries for a patriotic look.
