This colorful and festive patriotic dessert is perfect for celebrating any of your favorite holidays! Layers of sponge cake, fresh berries, and whipped cream create a delicious treat that is as beautiful as it is tasty.

- 1 pound of strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 pound of blueberries
- 1 pound of sponge cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups of heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and blueberries. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the sponge cake cubes at the bottom.
- Add half of the mixed berries on top of the cake layer.
- Spread half of the whipped cream over the berries.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining sponge cake, berries, and whipped cream.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- Feel free to use store-bought cake if you’re short on time.
- You can also add other fruits like raspberries or blackberries for more variety.
- This dessert can be made a few hours ahead of time but is best served the same day.
