Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Mini Croque Monsieur with Béchamel sauce, perfect for a quick snack or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Make the béchamel sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan, add flour, and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened.
  3. Toast the bread lightly.
  4. Place a slice of ham on each piece of toast.
  5. Spread béchamel sauce over the ham.
  6. Sprinkle grated Gruyère cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Serve warm.
