A delicious and easy-to-make Mini Croque Monsieur with Béchamel sauce, perfect for a quick snack or appetizer.

- 4 slices of white bread
- 4 slices of ham
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Make the béchamel sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan, add flour, and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Cook until thickened.
- Toast the bread lightly.
- Place a slice of ham on each piece of toast.
- Spread béchamel sauce over the ham.
- Sprinkle grated Gruyère cheese on top.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- You can use any type of bread, but white bread works best.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of Dijon mustard to the béchamel sauce.
