  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This easy berry trifle is a perfect dessert for Memorial Day, combining layers of sponge cake, fresh berries, and whipped cream for a deliciously patriotic treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 pound of store-bought angel food cake or pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups of whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup of sugar (optional, for sweetening berries)
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare the berries. If using strawberries, hull and slice them. In a bowl, mix the berries with sugar if desired and set aside to macerate for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large trifle dish or individual cups, start layering the dessert. Begin with a layer of cake cubes at the bottom.
  3. Add a layer of mixed berries over the cake, followed by a layer of whipped cream.
  4. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  5. Garnish with additional berries and mint leaves if desired. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
