A refreshing and patriotic dessert perfect for Memorial Day celebrations, featuring layers of sponge cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries.
Ingredients

- 1 pound of strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 pound of blueberries
- 1 pound of raspberries
- 1 pound of angel food cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups of heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the whipped cream, and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
- In a large trifle dish or individual cups, layer the angel food cake cubes, mixed berries, and whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to let the flavors meld.
Notes
- You can substitute the berries with any seasonal fruits.
- For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of whipped cream.
