This delicious asparagus pasta recipe is quick, easy, and ready in just 30 minutes. It’s a perfect weeknight meal that’s both flavorful and satisfying.

- 1 pound pasta (such as spaghetti, linguine, or penne)
- 1 pound asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
- 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: Red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add asparagus to the skillet and cook until tender-crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Reserve about 1/4 cup of pasta water before draining the pasta.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the asparagus. Toss to combine.
- Add Parmesan cheese and reserved pasta water to the skillet. Toss until the sauce is creamy and coats the pasta. Add more pasta water if needed to adjust the consistency.
- Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to taste.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a squeeze of lemon juice to the pasta before serving.
- You can also add other vegetables to this dish, such as peas, mushrooms, or cherry tomatoes.
- If you don’t have Parmesan cheese, you can substitute it with Pecorino Romano or another hard cheese.
- To make it vegan, use vegan parmesan cheese and ensure your pasta is egg-free.
