- 4 large Portobello mushrooms, stems removed
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, onion, and other desired toppings
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Place the Portobello mushrooms in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the mushrooms from the marinade and place them on the grill, gill side down. Grill for about 5-7 minutes.
- Flip the mushrooms and grill for an additional 5-7 minutes until they are tender and have grill marks.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each grilled mushroom on a bun and adding your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For added flavor, try adding cheese on top of the mushrooms while they are on the grill.
