Description
Gado gado is a traditional Indonesian salad made with a variety of vegetables, boiled eggs, tofu, and a rich peanut sauce. This recipe brings together fresh ingredients and a delightful blend of flavors, perfect for a light meal or side dish.

- 200g tofu, cubed
- 250g green beans, trimmed
- 2 large carrots, sliced
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, halved
- 100g bean sprouts
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 100g shredded cabbage
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt, to taste
- For the peanut sauce:
- 200g peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Water, as needed to thin the sauce
Instructions
- In a pan, bring water to a boil and cook the diced potatoes for about 10 minutes until tender. Add the green beans and carrots, and cook for another 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the peanut sauce. Mix well, adding water as needed to achieve your desired consistency.
- To serve, arrange the vegetables, tofu, and eggs on a platter. Drizzle the peanut sauce over the top, and garnish with bean sprouts and cucumber slices. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Gado gado can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Feel free to add or substitute vegetables based on your preference or seasonal availability.
- For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of fried shallots on top before serving.
