- 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss to coat and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
- Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture. Stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Make sure to use ripe peaches for the best flavor.
- You can substitute frozen peaches if fresh ones are not available, but thaw and drain them first.
- For a twist, add a pinch of nutmeg or some chopped pecans to the batter.
