  • Author: ushinzomr

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  4. Mix in the baking soda and salt.
  5. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  6. Mix in the flour until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For best results, use very ripe bananas.
  • You can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • Store banana bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
