- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
- Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
- Mix in the baking soda and salt.
- Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- Mix in the flour until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake in preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For best results, use very ripe bananas.
- You can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
- Store banana bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
