Description
A moist and delicious Tres Leches Cake perfect for celebrating Cinco de Mayo! This traditional Mexican dessert is soaked in three types of milk and topped with fluffy whipped cream.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Fresh fruit for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk in a bowl.
- Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a fork.
- Slowly pour the milk mixture over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in. Let the cake cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream evenly over the cooled cake.
- Top with fresh fruit if desired. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of rum or vanilla extract to the milk mixture.
- This cake is best served after being refrigerated for a few hours or overnight.
