Description
This Chicken Shawarma recipe features marinated chicken, cooked to perfection and served with a delicious garlic sauce, fresh vegetables, and warm pita bread.

- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- Pita bread, for serving
- Fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce) for garnish
- Garlic sauce or tahini sauce for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, coriander, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the remaining marinade.
- Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Then slice the chicken into thin strips.
- Serve the sliced chicken in pita bread with fresh vegetables and drizzle with garlic sauce or tahini sauce.
