- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil, for garnish
- Olive oil, for frying
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch.
- In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip in the eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the breaded chicken and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece of chicken and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the chicken is cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can bake the breaded chicken for 10 minutes before adding the sauce and cheese.
