  • Author: ushinzomr
  • Total Time: 20
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A classic Korean dish featuring marinated and grilled beef that is savory, sweet, and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, rice vinegar, and gochugaru. Mix well.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and mix until well coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat a grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly caramelized.
  5. Remove the beef from the heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh ribeye or sirloin for tender beef.
  • Serve bulgogi beef with steamed rice and side dishes like kimchi.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or onions to the skillet while cooking.
