Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 pita breads or flatbreads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup tahini sauce or garlic sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover and let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best flavor.
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- Remove the beef from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Warm the pita breads or flatbreads in a dry skillet for a minute on each side.
- To assemble, place some beef on each pita bread, and top with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and red onion. Drizzle with tahini sauce or garlic sauce.
- Roll up the pita breads and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, allow the beef to marinate overnight.
- Serve with pickles or hot sauce for added kick.
- Feel free to add your favorite toppings such as olives or feta cheese.
