A delicious and flavorful beef shawarma recipe that will transport you to the streets of the Middle East.

- 2 pounds beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pita bread or flatbreads for serving
- Fresh vegetables (tomato, cucumber, onion) for garnish
- Tahini sauce or garlic sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, yogurt, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight.
- Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated beef slices in batches, about 3-4 minutes on each side, until browned and cooked through.
- Remove from heat and let the beef rest for a few minutes before slicing it into smaller strips.
- Serve the beef shawarma in pita bread or flatbreads, topped with fresh vegetables and drizzled with tahini sauce or garlic sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the beef for longer.
