- 8 oz (225 g) pasta (penne or fusilli recommended)
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese, grated (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
