Description

This beef kofta recipe delivers juicy and flavorful meatballs, perfect for grilling or pan-frying, seasoned with aromatic spices and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wooden skewers (if grilling), soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until well combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Divide the meat mixture into equal portions (about 2 tablespoons each) and shape them into oblong meatballs or patties.
  4. If using skewers, thread the kofta onto the soaked wooden skewers, pressing them firmly to hold their shape.
  5. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Cook the kofta for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.
  7. Serve warm with pita bread, tzatziki sauce, or your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste.
  • Kofta can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
