- 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers (if grilling), soaked in water for 30 minutes
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until well combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the meat mixture into equal portions (about 2 tablespoons each) and shape them into oblong meatballs or patties.
- If using skewers, thread the kofta onto the soaked wooden skewers, pressing them firmly to hold their shape.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the kofta for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.
- Serve warm with pita bread, tzatziki sauce, or your favorite sides.
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste.
- Kofta can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking.
- For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
