Description

This homemade beef jerky recipe is made easy with a dehydrator, ensuring a flavorful and perfectly dried result every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of lean beef (such as flank steak or sirloin)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional for added flavor)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips (1/8 to 1/4 inch thick) against the grain for tenderness.
  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, and liquid smoke until well combined.
  3. Place the beef strips in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the meat. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  4. Remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess liquid.
  5. Arrange the beef strips in a single layer on the dehydrator trays, making sure they are not touching.
  6. Set the dehydrator to 160°F (70°C) and dry the beef for 6-8 hours, or until it is dry and chewy but not brittle.
  7. Once dried, let the jerky cool to room temperature before storing it in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For best results, use lean cuts of beef to minimize fat content, which can spoil the jerky.
  • Feel free to adjust the spices and seasonings to your taste preferences.
  • You can store the jerky in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
