Description
Beef Giouvetsi is a traditional Greek dish featuring tender beef and orzo pasta cooked in a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients

- 500g beef, cubed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 400g canned tomatoes
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 200g orzo pasta
- 500ml beef stock
- 50g grated cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add beef and brown on all sides.
- Add onion and garlic, cook until soft.
- Stir in canned tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in beef stock and bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for 1 hour or until beef is tender.
- Add orzo pasta and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Serve hot with grated cheese if desired.
Notes
- You can use lamb instead of beef.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Add extra stock if the dish becomes too dry.
